The first is the famous Ohio Howl. Matt Moneymaker got this recording in 1994 very near the WV border on the Ohio River.
Robert Benson (bioacoustician) at Texas A&M analyzed the Ohio recordings and determined that they were not mechanical/synthesized, they were definitely generated by a mammal, and they weren’t being made by any known animal on this or any other continent. This is the sound I mentioned in Chapter 16 of my book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPCcLddBekY
Another sound the NAWAC has heard is the Sierra Sounds. Go to Ron Moreheads' site to hear the sounds http://ronmorehead.com/
On page 143 of my book I talk about a strange animal calling back to our team located on Mercer Bayou near Fouke, Arkansas. We played a vocalization that was manufactured on the internet. The sound was broadcast through a very loud sound caller. We heard someone/something calling back to us immediately after our broadcast, sounding as though it was across the swamp in a dense area. We heard the sound several times over a period of several hours. Also that night two of our pheromone traps were destroyed or missing! SWAMP APE! On another occasion, at the confluence of the Big Cypress and Little Cypress Bayou my friend Charles DeVore and I were in total darkness in kayaks when we played this vocalization, getting an immediate copied return (p.153). On page 143 and 153 of my book I mention the following vocalization. This is a call that was manufactured on the internet,,, yet we had responses when we broadcast this call! My theory is that Wood Apes mimic strange sounds in the night, as well as other animals. Possibly this vocalization is better for swampy bayou type country.IGNORE THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON, JUST GO AHEAD AND CLICK IT TO HEAR THE SOUNS.!
